Base camp arrival
Jean-Christophe arrived this morning to Makalu’s base camp by helicopter, 4.800m with his cook and two kitchen boys.

Tomorrow they will start to carry material in order to settle at the base camp of the Japanese at 5300 m. The conditions on the mountain are visually those which Jean-Christophe expected; dry!! Another good news, there is no snow at the base camp!!!

According to information which we had, he expected 2 meters of snow at the base camp. He is in grass, there is even sand... As per the weather, beautiful and there is much wind! There will be some photographs on line tomorrow Tuesday if everything goes ok technically.

Have a good day ! Katia Lafaille
